A former Russell Springs postmaster is sentenced for stealing prescription drugs from the mail.

Forty-nine-year-old Phillip Thomas Crump had earlier pleaded guilty to taking more than 45 pieces of mail sent by the veterans’ administration. The mail contained prescription drugs, including Lortab, which Crump took for his own use.

Crump was postmaster in Russell Springs from January of 2004 to December of 2005.

He has already paid restitution in full. Crump was sentenced to two years probation.
