14th Street Changes

A downtown Bowling Green roadway has been straightened to help keep you safe.

Fourteenth Street, from College Street to Kentucky Street is now straightened and open to traffic. Your safety was a big consideration in the change.

“The critical thing was to address something we call Spaghetti Junction and that was a series of angles and turns and curves that was really extremely dangerous for both motorists and pedestrians,” Bowling Green Mayor Elaine Walker said.

The straightening of the street was also in an effort to control the flow of traffic.

“Safety was a huge benefit but it also allows us the ability to direct traffic where we want it,” Walker said.

The fraternities and sororities on Western Kentucky University’s campus will now continue to construct new homes and parking along 14th Street, in efforts to complete their Greek Village.
