Threatening Letter Results in Prison Time

An inmate was sentenced today to five years in prison for mailing former Governor Paul Patton a threatening letter.

A U.S. district judge also ordered 34-year-old Aaron Rivers to spend three years on supervised release and required him to pay a $100 special assessment.

Rivers pleaded guilty in October 2006 to sending Patton a letter in November 2003 that read "anthrax... Die American official."

Patton was unharmed by the mailing.
