The lawyer for Gov. Paul Patton in the lawsuit over the state budget says Senate President David Williams is trying to avoid responsibility.
Sheryl Snyder says if the lawsuit being pressed by Williams results in a shutdown of state government, Williams wants to be able to blame the judge. Snyder called that ''buck passing at its zenith.''
Lawyers for the executive branch and Williams were back in court Monday, once again unable to agree on a schedule to resolve the suit. Senate Republican floor leader Dan Kelly, who represented Williams, said there is no emergency and there may not need to be anything done on the budget before January.
