The National Transportation Safety Board releases the transcripts from a plane crash in Lexington.
Comair 5191 took off from the wrong runway at Bluegrass Airport on Aug. 27, 2006. In documents released today, Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, just seconds before the plane crashed the co-pilot remarked it was “weird” that there were no lights on the runway.
After the co-pilot’s comment the captain responded “yeah” and soon after said “whoa.” Then the sound of the impact is heard.
Forty-nine of the 50 people died in the crash. The only survivor, James Polehinke lost a leg and suffered brain damage. Polehinke said he doesn’t remember a thing about what happened.
