A Kentucky soldier has paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving in Iraq.
Army Sgt. John Cooper of Ewing was one of four people killed in a bomb attack on Jan. 16, 2007. Cooper's patrol unit was ambushed in Iraq . A bomb went off near their vehicle.
Cooper's mother said the knock on the door with news of her son's death was incredibly painful, but she'll always think of her son as a hero.
Cooper was on his second tour of duty in Iraq. All flags are being flown at half-staff in honor of Cooper.
