Robinson to Seek Nomination for Secretary of State

A Central Kentucky businessman has filed candidacy papers to seek the Democratic nomination for secretary of state.

Dick Robinson, 66, of Georgetown, Ky., is the only Democratic candidate to enter the race so far. Robinson said he wants to increase the number of people who vote in Kentucky. He wants to do this by educating voters through civic outreach programs.

Incumbent Republican Trey Grayson has also filed. Grayson said he wants his second term to continue his efforts in promoting civic education and the way elections are carried out.

Northup Visits Bowling Green

A Republican gubernatorial candidate said the party needs to replace Governor Ernie Fletcher if they want to hold on to the office.

Anne Northup filed candidacy papers on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, and spent the past two days traveling the state to meet with supporters. Traveling with Northup is her running mate, Jeff Hoover. Hoover is a Russell Springs native and the current minority leader of the house.

On Jan. 19, 2007, Northup and Hoover stopped at the airport in Bowling Green, Ky., where they said they will focus their campaign on education, jobs, economic development and moving the state forward. They said in order to do this Fletcher must not be re-elected.

Paducah businessman Billy Harper has also filed to run on the Republican ticket.
