Kentucky State Police are investigating the shooting of a fellow trooper that happened Saturday afternoon. The incident happened in Northeastern Butler County on Leonard Oak Road.
Officials say two troopers from the Bowling Green Post responded to a welfare check complaint after a family member called police asking them to check on her son. Upon arrival the troopers were fired at by a resident.
KSP reports that one trooper sustained multiple gunshot wounds and is recovering from surgery at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. The troopers did return fire.
Trooper Nick Stephens says currently they believe the suspect remains inside his mobile home where the shooting took place. KSP has not yet released the names of the trooper involved or the suspect.
