Two local landfills are nearing completion under oversight of the State Environmental and Public Protection Cabinet.
The initial work on the Campbellsville Landfill project has been done and is already seeing dramatic changes.
Some of the work includes relocating waste that was found off site, winter cover placement, constructing a drain to divert spring water away from the landfill and a contaminated water collection and pumping system.
All of the landfill upgrades are aimed at protecting human health and the environment.
Funding for the project is from the Kentucky Pride Program created by the General Assembly in 2002.
