State Auditor Crit Luallen has released the 2005 audit of the Cumberland County Clerk’s Office and the findings caused suspicion that led to the review of records from 2006.

It was discovered; the Cumberland County Clerk’s Office had more than $26,000 in un-deposited receipts between Jan. 1, 2005 to Aug. 31, 2006.
The receipts consist of money that came into the Clerk’s Office but was not deposited in official accounts.

More than $16,000 was personally withheld by the clerk, Lynn Groce. Twenty-five-hundred dollars was repaid, leaving a balance of $14,000.
The Auditor’s Office reports nine separate findings. The Kentucky State Police have been notified of the audit’s findings.
