Physical Fitness Bill Endorsed

Also in Frankfort today, Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, health advocates are endorsing new exercise legislation for elementary and middle school students. If passed, it would require all students in those age ranges to get 30 minutes of physical activity daily.

The proposal is a follow-up to legislation passed a couple years ago. That legislation put restrictions on the types of food and drinks sold in school vending machines.

State Representative Robin Webb calls the proposal preventive medicine at its finest.

If passed, schools would have the flexibility to tailor their own physical programs.
