A Logan County preacher on the run finds himself behind bars instead of behind a church pulpit Sunday morning.
A search is over for 35-year-old Jody Lusk, preacher of the Auburn Church of Christ.
Lusk is accused of raping a 13-year-old girl over the weekend, and Sunday morning, he turned himself in to authorities.
Detective Robbie Matthews received a call at 5 AM saying Jody Lusk was at the Sheriff's Department willing to turn himself in.
According to Matthews, Lusk was very cooperative.
"Mr. Lusk stated to me the reason why he turned himself in was that he didn't want to be on the run the rest of his life telling a lie and that he felt bad enough," said Matthews. "That his wife and kids were already hurting and that he couldn't get right with God on his side if he was always telling a lie the rest of his life."
The church preacher confessed to having consensual sex with a 13-year-old girl and to traveling out of state with her Friday night in a white Dodge Dakota.
He returned her home on Saturday.
According to officials, his story matches that of the 13-year-old girl.
As far as the busted window in his truck at Briggs Lake and his bicycle on Dennis Corinth Road...
"He did say he staged the scene," said Matthews. "As far as the bicycle being left there, he did not mean to leave the bicycle there. He forgot it."
Lusk is facing first and second degree rape charges.
Authorities say he hasn't heard from his family after turning himself in.
"I contacted his wife this morning to see if she wanted to come up here and have some of her own questions answered since she's been fully cooperative with us, and she advised me that she just didn't think she could face him right now," said Matthews. "Didn't want to see him."
More investigations and interviews will occur this week.
Lusk has been lodged in the Logan County Detention Center on a $250,000 bond.
