Ky. Rural Water Assoc. Votes on Ky.'s Water

An annual contest has competitors vying for the title of “The Best Tasting Water in Kentucky.”

Several area taste-testers sampled treated water from across the state. The panel of judges graded 18 samples on smell, taste and appearance of the water.

This is the eighth year the water tasting contest has been held.

“We do this just as a way to bring a little attention to our industry. It’s not often we get noticed unless your water isn’t working or you have a problem with waste water system,” said Andy Lange with the Kentucky Rural Water Association.

Lange said a little friendly competition raises the bar for utilities across the state. The winner of this year’s best tasting water was Lewisburg and Butler County finished in the top three. Lange said Butler County has a history for placing three different times, in the last eight years.

The 2007 winner will now be eligible to participate in a national contest at the Rural Water Rally in Washington D.C.
