Butler County Murder Trial Concludes

After hearing more than an hour of closing arguments, jurors now continue to deliberate the verdict of a Butler County man charged with murder in 2002.

The trial all stems from an incident that took place on December 17, 2002, when 41-year-old Leland Webb was found stabbed on Sugar Grove Road in Butler County. He died at the scene. Fifty-five-year-old Throny Kirby was arrested and charged with the murder.

Both the prosecution and the defense agree the incident occurred as a result of some sort of disagreement between the two men. They don't agree, however, on who was the initial aggressor.

The defense claims Webb threatened Kirby's life, and Kirby's act was in self defense. However the prosecution claims Kirby was the initial aggressor, and not entitled to the protection of self defense under the law.

Now it's in the hands of a jury to decide whether or not Kirby will be convicted of murder, a number of lesser charges, or nothing at all.
