The son of a Western Kentucky lawmaker convicted in a drunken driving death, is just one of the many defendants in a suit filed by the victim’s family.
A Calloway County jury convicted Harrison Yonts earlier this month of wanton murder, drunk driving, leaving the scene of an accident and tampering with evidence.
Yonts is now named in a lawsuit filed by 62-year-old Nadia Shaheen’s family.
His Murray State University fraternity and the bar where he was drinking before the accident are also named.
The wrongful death suit seeks unspecified damages.
Yonts is scheduled to be sentenced April 9, 2007. The jury recommended he serve 20 years in prison.
