Work is underway on the General Burnside Island Boat Ramp at Lake Cumberland.
The work is part of Governor Ernie Fletcher’s commitment to the economic health of the region. The extension was ordered after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lowered the level of Lake Cumberland to work on Wolf Creek Dam.
Earlier this year Wolf Creek Dam was classified as high risk for structural failure.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is using rock to extend the ramp. Kentucky ’s Commerce Cabinet Secretary said the boat ramp at the state park is essential to the houseboat industry and important for all boaters. The project is expected to cost $20,000.
