Bowling Green Police Officers will soon have 16,000 additional square feet of space to help them get their jobs done and keep the community safe.
The new building will be adjacent to the existing headquarters and will result in a facility totaling 42,000 square feet. Monday afternoon, city and police department officials gathered to break ground on the new facility.
Chief Bill Waltrip says the Police Department has needed this addition for a couple of years now and the added space will help them expand in the areas of evidence and communications.
The addition is projected to be complete in 8 months, but Chief Waltrip says people can expect to see changes and progress at the site within the next few weeks.
