The P.E. teacher at Edmonton Elementary is already beefing up the time students spend on physical activity. Larry Harbison puts his classes through the paces.
The students spend the beginning part of class doing jumping jacks and running laps. The second half is spent learning a skill like jumping rope or playing ball.
Thanks to WBKO and Leachman-Buick-GMC, Harbison has some extra money to buy new gym equipment. He said it’s more important than ever to keep kids focused on fitness.
“Anytime I find an article I try to share it with them and explain that the habits they form will factor in the rest of their lives. Hopefully they’ll end up continuing their physical activity,” Harbison said.
