Domestic violence continues to be one of the biggest plagues on the United States.
According to the United States Department of Justice more than a half million American women are attacked each year by someone they know.
Monday, a new law goes into affect to help provide some protection.
The law will make sure domestic violence victims are notified if a person they have a restraining order against tries to buy a gun.
Nora Wright, a worker for a domestic violence shelter called B.R.A.S.S., says the bill will help provide some peace of mind as well as protection for victims. The law was signed into action by the governor March 26.
