The kickoff for Total Fitness Connection's Run and Walk for Children was held on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2007, in Bowling Green.
Statistics show there were 3,694 cases of child abuse in the region last year.
This is just one reason why Total Fitness Connection hosts the Run and Walk for Children that benefits the Family Enrichment Center in Bowling Green.
The center raises money and awareness for the prevention of child abuse.
"Sadly we've had some incidences of child abuse in our area lately that have been heartbreaking and that's just the reason why we need people to come out and support this event", said Jennifer Bryant, Director of Development for the Family Enrichment Centert.
A kickoff for the upcoming event was held Wednesday at the Total Fitness Connection on Three Springs Road.
This year's race date has been scheduled for March 31, 2007. The event typically raises over $40,000 for the Family Enrichment Center and is their primary fundraiser.
