A Campbellsville man is facing nearly fifty counts of animal cruelty to his saddle bred horses. Friday, ranch owner John Humphress was in court about a hearing to determine where his horses should stay.
Two weeks ago Taylor County Animal Control seized the horses and started taking care of them after finding them in dire need of food, water, and shelter. Three of the horses were found dead and 47 others almost starving to death.
Horse owner, John Humphress, says he has been feeding the horses and that they just had a bad case of worms. The trial for the case is set for the middle of April.
In the meantime animal control will be taking care of the horses at another ranch they've been transported to in Campbellsville. So far they have received several donations but need more to feed and take care of the horses.
