WBKO caught up with Congressman Ron Lewis over the weekend and discussed a variety of topics. One of the topics discussed, gay marriage.
Lewis said, “It’s not part of our traditional norms,” and that he agrees with President Bush about getting a constitutional amendment.
A bill proposing an amendment defining marriage as the union between one man and one woman was introduced and withdrawn from the state earlier in the week.
In 1998, the Legislature passed a law banning same-sex marriages, but did not go as far as amending the Constitution of the state.
