Students across the country celebrate Read Across America Day.
More than 45 million children and adults donned the signature red and white stovepipe hat today to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday and mark the 10th anniversary of NEA's Read Across America, the nation's largest one-day reading event.
Schools throughout South Central Kentucky also celebrated. More than a dozen community leaders were invited to a breakfast at Bristow Elementary.
After the breakfast, they were escorted to classrooms to read a Dr. Seuss book to students.
There was also a school-wide celebration at South Edmonson Elementary. The entire school gathered for an assembly to hear "The Cat in the Hat" and sing Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss.
