Exotic Pet Law

Exotic pet owners in Barren County may have to find another home for their animals. The Barren County fiscal court may pass an ordinance that would ban exotic wildlife in homes.

The ordinance stems from an arrest made at an Austin Tracy home in January. Police were searching the house for a poisonous snake when they stumbled upon two alligators. Magistrate, Krissie Fields, says the law would protect law enforcement in the future.

The second (and final) reading for the ordinance will be at next week's fiscal court meeting. That's Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at the county building across from the Barren County Courthouse.
