Gamaliel School was built almost 70 years ago and was a home to children ages five to 18.
However, the principal says the school will be torn down due to years of wear, tear, and maintenance problems.
With this announcement, many in the community have bittersweet feelings toward the demolition. Many are graduates of the school and have happy memories, but they're excited about the new opportunities the children will have.
However, a portion of the old school will remain. The gym was rebuilt in the 70's, and the new school will be built around that structure.
It should take around two years to build the new school at a cost of $6 million.
