Bowling Green's Police Department will look to a new software system to help advance their technological capability and streamline their investigative process.
The Picture Link system, due to be up and running by early spring, will allow officers and media (on a limited basis) to access mug shots, jail records, and criminal backgrounds via the Internet. The system also includes a database for bar-coded evidence storage, which police say will make their jobs more efficient as well.
The $100,000 price tag is being paid mostly by grant money. Bowling Green's City Commission approved an agreement to adopt the system at a special meeting on Thursday.
