A Kentucky woman who was widowed when her husband was killed in Iraq is getting a helping hand from one of the nation’s biggest stars.
Jennifer West will be one of 50 women from across the country heading to Arizona next week. She won a contest sponsored by Oprah Winfrey’s Magazine.
West’s husband, Coty West was killed in November while on patrol in Baghdad. In the months since Coty’s death, Jennifer has been trying to graduate from Eastern Kentucky University and get her life back together.
She’ll get some help from Oprah after a stranger entered West in a Live Your Best Life contest sponsored by Winfrey’s “O” Magazine.
Sarah Hall said she was so moved by a picture of Jennifer from her husband’s funeral, she entered West in the contest even though the two have never met.
West will enjoy spa treatment, a series of inspirational lectures and outdoor activities.
