State fire marshals have released their report on a Bardstown fire that killed ten people last month. They say intoxicated adults and the lack of smoke detectors impaired the ability of the victims to get out of the burning house.
The official cause of the February 6, 2007, blaze is still undetermined, because neither the material that first ignited nor the initial ignition point could be found but Deputy Fire Marshal Rob Goodwin has concluded smoking materials were the likely cause of the fire.
It was Kentucky’s worst fatal fire in three decades.
