Kobe Steel Will Make Multi-Million Dollar Investment to Increase Production

An increased demand for aluminum prompts a Bowling Green aluminum manufacturer to expand.

Kobe Steel said Kobe Aluminum Automotive Products will make a $14 million investment to increase production of aluminum forgings. The Bowling Green, Ky., operation will add a fourth mechanical forging press eventually increasing KAAP's production by 33 percent a month.

The increased demand for aluminum is attributed to a need for lighter cars, improved drivablity and ride quality.

Production on the fourth forging press is scheduled to begin April 2008.
