Charles David Fancher was arrested for criminal trespassing, resisting arrest and menacing by the Metcalfe County Sheriff's Department on March 10, 2007. The Metcalfe County Jailer transported Charles to the Barren County Jail where he was found unresponsive upon arrival. Charles was then taken to T. J. Sampson Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
"It's just hard, we always grew up together, and it's just really hard. It doesn't seem right for him to be dead," said Charles brother Jamie Lee Fancher, who is left with many questions of what was the exact cause of his brother's death.
Charles Fancher's ex-wife notified police Saturday night because Charles was reportedly going in and out of consciousness.
"Something went wrong and I just don't know why he didn't receive medical treatment. There should have been an ambulance called at the scene to check him out," Jamie Lee said.
Kentucky State Police have been brought in to investigate the incident.
"We spoke with the jailer and the jailer indicated that they were carrying on a conversation almost the whole way to the jail, so minutes before arrival at the Barren County Jail was when their conversation basically ended, no more then ten minutes prior to arrival at the jail," said

It could take up to several weeks for toxicology reports to come back. Until then, this family is left with many unanswered questions.
"I do not know how they could not see he needed medical attention when he had a five or six-year-old boy there who was crying in the background, saying something was wrong with his daddy and how can a child see that and a grownup cannot," Jamie Lee said.
Jamie Lee feels his brother was not given medical treatment due to the family name and past situations that have occurred but said that should not matter if he was in medical trouble.
"Charles was a good person, he was a loving person. I've been with him all his life. He wasn't a violent person," said Janet Stovall, Charle's aunt.
Funeral arrangements have been made for Charles. The Fancher family wants this incident to be thoroughly investigated and hopes a lesson can be learned from their story so no other family has to go through what they are dealing with.
