BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- Families in need picked up bags filled with toys Saturday morning.
660 families -- about 2,000 children -- will have presents to open Christmas morning because of Toys for Tots.
Organizers say it's the most bags that have ever been at the "North Pole" for a distribution day, and it took three weeks to get them ready.
"We started at nine o'clock this morning and actually we already had people walking in the door at eight o'clock, so people were very eager to get their toys this year, which is a good thing. That's why we're here," said Toys for Tots Coordinator, Janel Doyle. "They're all smiles, especially when they can see the bag actually being handed to them and they realize they're actually getting the toys that they need for their children."
Even more families will be helped during the next two distribution days on December 14th and 24th.
Doyle says she's thankful for all the sponsors and volunteers.
