The maternity ward at Greenview Hospital had a special delivery when the Blythe boys made their surprise entrance.
Alan Blythe is the new dad. He says, "Oh about 2:00 a.m., my wife Ann Marie, her water broke and everything just kinda cut loose. All the nurses came running. And by 3:24 we had all three of them.”
This it the first set of triplets born at Greenview in the hospital’s 34-year history.
They were born at 34 weeks. Austin came first, weighing 4lb, 1oz. Connor came next, weighing 3lb, 12oz. And Dalton was the big boy, weighing 4lb, 12oz!
Dr. Zahid Fraser is a pediatrician. He says, "Well, having multiple births is a challenge because you're not just taking care of one baby. In this case you have triplets, which is going to be very good for the parents. They have a lot of work ahead of them.
Blythe says, "There's a lot going through my head right now. I'm just still in awe. It still hasn't sunk in."
But he says he knew when they got married that having multiples was a possibility.
Blythe says, "My wife's family. She has a cousin with triplets and she has five other cousins with twins. When we got married, I kinda knew we could have twins. That's what I was hoping for, and I got an extra one!"
