General Assembly Adjourns

Lawmakers adjourn the 2007 regular session of the General Assembly. They’ll return on January 8, 2008, unless Governor Fletcher calls a special session.

During the 30-day session lawmakers raised the speed limit on interstate highways, increased the minimum wage and passed sweeping coal mine safety measure.

Hundreds of other initiatives were not so lucky, including a proposal that would have required middle school girls to be vaccinated against a sexually transmitted virus that causes cervical cancer.
