School, government and health department officials from all over South Central Kentucky came together to promote school wellness Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at the second School Health Summit took place, which took place at Bowling Green Junior High School.
School districts and community partners were given the opportunity to showcase their wellness initiatives currently in place for both students and staff.
Public relations coordinator for Bowling Green city schools, Leslie Peek said the event was so successful they’re already planning on hosting a third event.
“It is an information sharing event. We had several officials from the state department, from Washington D.C., give us ideas on how to incorporate wellness into the curriculum,” said Leslie Peek, Bowling Green Independent Schools PR coordinator.
The Health Summit is hosted by the Barren River District Health Department, Bowling Green Independent Schools and Glasgow Independent Schools.
