Former Deputy Inspector General Thought to be Fired for Political Beliefs and Activities

A former deputy inspector general of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet was fired for political reasons, this according to a hearing officer for the State Personnel Board.

John Ryan said the Mike Duncan firing was not a result of his work performance but of his political beliefs and activities. It is being recommended that Duncan be reinstated. Duncan was fired by Transportation Secretary, Bill Nighbert.

Duncan's case was part of an investigation by a special grand jury that looked into the personnel practices of Governor Fletcher's administration.
