Secretary of State Asks for Answers on How to Deal with Runoff Elections

Secretary of State, Trey Grayson, is also calling for the general assembly to deal with the possibility of a run-off election in a special session or to find away for the state to pay the counties' cost if one was to occur.

Grayson sent a letter to Governor Fletcher today explaining what he believed was the states options.

The primary election is on May 22, 2007, and has seven Democrats and three Republicans running. If no candidate receives 40 percent of the vote a runoff election will occur in late June.
