The Kentucky State Board of Election takes action on a potential problem overseas citizen could face if a runoff primary is required.
The primary will only take place if at least one gubernatorial candidate does not receive 40 percent of the votes. If the election was to occur it would be on June 26, 2007. That short turnaround time could affect overseas voters.
Officials say they may not be able to print ballots and mail them overseas and have them back in time for the runoff election. The Board of Elections has voted to use the federal write-in absentee ballot for the runoff elections. The use of the ballot is waiting the approval of the governor.
