Morgantown, KY has been hit hard by the economy, especially when several years back a company left town, taking away 700 jobs.

But they'll be seeing new jobs soon in a manufacturing facility that's about to take-off. "The busiest little city in kentucky" is about to be a little busier.

And the president of Blackhawk Composites, Gary Smrtic, knows what the manufacturing facility can bring to the "job hungry" community.

"You're talking about high-technology jobs, good paying, clean work environment, all the benefits packages, and it's very encouraging and uplifting I think for the local residents."

At the fall festival the city mayor, Eva hawes, says the people of Morgantown are good working people, and deserve this opportunity to grow.

"Anytime we get new jobs coming in to town, it helps the economy, and everybody wins," said Hawes.

Morgantown is very excited about the addition, as the city wasn't originally a first-pick.
"My partner and I went on a 7 state, 22 city site-selection process," says Smrtic, "that includes northwest to Southern California, Illinois, Indiana, and really Kentucky was an afterthought.

Smrtic says what drew Blackhawk Composites to Kentucky iss a good work ethic in the community and a big empty building.

The old Casco plant used to manufacture electrical equipment for vehicles. With some sprucing up, it will be producing advanced aerospace composite parts soon enough

"We will build the tools, and the parts, on aircraft and probably later spacecraft military and civilian, corporate as well as private," said Smrtic.

In the short-term at least 30 jobs will be created, and Smrtic says some of those jobs will be filled by the second quarter of 2010.
