To get your concealed carry permit in Kentucky, you must go through a 6-8 hour training class.

The Rockcastle Shooting center at Park Mammoth Resort often holds a carrying concealed deadly weapons class.

Students learn basic handgun safety and handling techniques, legal information, and a live fire practice.

An instructor says anyone who wants to be prepared for a potentially dangerous situation should take the class. "Really anyone that's interested in personal protection," says Jim Honaker, a concealed carry instructor, "whether you're just driving down the road at night and have the fear of breaking down and being alone, or for everyday carry, you just never know what kind of situation may come up where you find yourself in a situation where you need to defend yourself."

Rockcastle Shooting Center is a 2,000-acre resort, and it's expanding into a shooting facility over the next few months. It will include pistol shooting, archery, clay shooting, and even paintball.
