It was a chance for those concerned to voice their opinions at Monday night's Warren County School Board meeting.

We attended the meeting, which had the public speaking out about redistricting for South Warren.

"The motion tonight will be for the lines to be drawn as initially proposed thirty to forty days ago," said Mike Wilson, Warren County School Board Chairman.

Because of data, the initial plan will stay.

It affects Drakes Creek Middle, Moss Middle, Greenwood High, and also Warren Central, which had the largest crowd at the meeting.

"I feel like you're throwing Warren Central under the bus," said one concerned parent.

Individual stories were shared.

"This is our fifth school redistricting in 15 years, and when I expressed that to a couple of you, you seemed a little surprised about that," said a concerned parent. "I guess I'm kind of confused as to how you can be surprised by that if you've spent so many man hours on deciding on this redistricting and moving children around."

Many say the decision on which school to attend should be their own, and some even say to include the children in the decision.

"We go and we gave them a choice," said a concerned parent. "Even at that age."

Other issues that came up included academic standards.

"Oftentimes, you know we do the best we can, but if there aren't enough numbers, certain courses may not be offered," said a concerned parent. "How will that be guaranteed?"

Parents also expressed concern over how the board made its decision.

"As a Board, it's your responsibility to take into consideration the needs of each individual child," said a concerned parent.

But most just asked for the chance to choose.

It's an issue the board has seen over the past month.

"We've seen the entire spectrum," said Wilson. "Some people that aren't in the new area that would like to go to the new school. We have some that are being redistricted to the new school that want to stay where they are."

The parents say they feel there's still many issues for the board to decide.
