Another Kentucky solider killed by roadside bomb

Hundreds of people came to the Booneville Funeral Home to honor the sacrifice of 24-year-old Army Sgt. William G. Bowling.

The Defense Department said Bowling died April 1, 2007, when a roadside bomb went off near his vehicle. He was buried April 11, 2007, with full military honors.

"We're here to show our support for the family and Sgt. Bowling and thank them for our freedom. That's the least we can do as Americans and Kentuckians," said Danny Belcher of the Task Force Omega of Kentucky.

Bowling's wife is expecting the couple's second child. They also have a daughter, Hannah.

Governor Ernie Fletcher ordered flags be flown half staff across the state to honor the soldier.
