Horse Rider Arrested for D.U.I.

Columbia State Police said a horse was euthanized and its rider charged with being drunk on horseback after a Kentucky state trooper struck the horse in a collision on April 15, 2007

The horse was critically injured in the wreck and euthanized at the scene. The horse's rider, Jonathan Bryant, was charged with DUI-Non-motorized vehicle after being treated and released for minor injuries. He remained in the Adair County Jail this morning.

State police said Trooper James Richard was driving on Ky. 206, about five miles east of Columbia in South-Central Kentucky, when he hit Bryant and the horse.

Richard's car sustained severe damage. Richard was treated for minor injuries. The wreck remains under investigation.
