Supreme Court declares SLF can not be sued

The Kentucky Supreme Court makes a ruling in the Katie Autry case on April 19, 2007.

Attorney Charles English Sr., with English, Lucas, Priest and Owsley told WBKO the State Supreme Court reversed the Court of Appeals decision and has declared the Student Life Foundation cannot be sued in connection with the 2003 murder of freshman, Katie Autry.

The court also upheld the Court of Appeals decision that Western Kentucky University has governmental immunity in the case.

Autry was raped, sodomized and set on fire in her dorm room in Hugh Poland Hall in May 2003. She died a few days later at Vanderbilt Hospital.

Autry’s family filed a wrongful death suit in connection with the murder.
