Traffic congestion on Veterans Memorial Highway will soon be less of a hassle.
The highway will be widened from two to four lanes by next summer.
Veterans Memorial is a loop around Bowling Green from Richardsville Road to Russellville Road.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet nearly 18,000 drivers use it daily. Its expansion will cost over $14 million.
The ground-breaking for the expansion was held on April 20, 2007, at Faith United Methodist Church on Veterans Memorial.
The State Highway Commissioner said the project coincides with Bowling Green being the third-largest metropolitan area in the state.
