One year since Cherry Hall fire

One year ago as of April 23, 2007, fire swept through Cherry Hall on Western’s campus causing more than one million dollars in damages.

Fire officials say several fires were set within the building that houses most of the university’s English, History and Religion classes.

Most of the damage was confined to the Interactive Television Classroom and the hallway on the first floor.

Two juveniles were charged with second degree arson and second degree complicity.

To make Western more secure, the locks to all the academic buildings were changed after the Cherry Hall fire.
