I-65 fatal accident

The interstate through Hart County is back open after a fatal crash involving a truck driver shut the southbound lanes down.

According to state police, 41-year-old Gene Tracy Jr. was traveling on I-65 southbound just before midnight on April 25, 2007, when the tractor trailer he was driving entered the grass median.

Police said the Indiana native traveled more than a thousand feet before hitting a concrete bridge support at the 63 mile marker.

Tracy was pronounced dead at the scene.
