If you went to McDonald’s on April 27, 2007, you may have gotten more than just a Big Mac.
For the seventeenth consecutive year, locally-owned McDonald’s teamed up with Western’s Public Broadcasting Service and The Daily News to hand out free pine seedlings in celebration of National Arbor Day.
More than 8,500 seedlings were given away in Bowling Green, Franklin, Scottsville, Smiths Grove and Portland, Tenn. Planting and care instructions were provided with the seedlings.
In addition to the giveaway, St. Joseph and Lost River Elementary schools each received more than 500 seedlings to distribute after being selected as Tree-rific Schools.
