A Bowling Green, Ky., woman accused of criminally abusing her child has her case bound over to a grand jury.
A preliminary hearing was held this morning for Dreva Kirkwood. Kirkwood is charged with criminal abuse and her live-in boyfriend, Leroy Sturdivant, is charged with assault in connection with serious injuries to Kirkwood’s three-year-old son, Daniel.
The couple remains jailed on a $1 million cash bond.
This morning, Judge Sam Potter found probable cause to bind the case over for grand jury action.
Last month, the Kentucky Court of Appeals overturned a ruling that would allow the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to take Daniel off life support.
The Cabinet said it’s evaluating the Court of Appeals opinion.
