Parts of Kansas declared disaster areas

President Bush declared parts of Kansas disaster areas on May 6, 2007, after the devastating tornadoes that struck there on Friday and Saturday.

The tornado that tore through Greensburg this weekend was an F-5, the most powerful possible. It wiped out 90 percent of the town leaving at least 10 dead. According to meteorologists, the last tornado of that strength in the United States was eight years ago in Oklahoma City.

FEMA has now been brought in to help the town.

Searchers are continuing to pick through the rubble, checking for anyone who may still be trapped under crumbled debris.
