Allergy Season Is Among Us

If you are coughing, sneezing and wheezing this year, you're not alone. People who have never had allergy problems before are even suffering big time.

Experts are calling this one of the worst allergy seasons on record.

Reports show 14 million people will visit a doctor this year and rack up $6 billion in treatment costs. The price of health care is top of mind for all patients, but there might be a different type of remedy out there for allergy sufferers.

Jill Johnson is a teacher's aide and spends many recesses outside with her class.

"I'm sneezing all the time. My kids are like, 'Ms. Johnson why do you keep sneezing,'" Johnson said.

Johnson said this year she's desperate for relief.

"My nose itches non stop," Johnson explained.

A lot of allergy sufferers are trying natural homeopathic medicine. All you have to do is put a few drops under your tongue and some people swear by it.

"It helps to put back the toxins that you are allergic to and over time your body would build up a resistance," explained Gail Robinson, who has spent years studying herbal remedies.

She said if you want to try an alternative, start with Vitamin C.

"It's a natural histamine blocker, great for boosting immune system," Robinson said.

She said to then choose a natural homeopathic medicine to help remedy specific allergens.

"I've seen first hand how things can be beneficial," Robinson said.

Johnson just might take her advise.

"I'll try it," Johnson exclaimed.
